The charm of Provence

This charming château is a hidden gem in the tranquil countryside of Provence – yet only 12km from Avignon and 14km from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is situated in extensive grounds, with heated swimming pool and superb views over Lubéron, Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Mont Ventoux. A central stone staircase with magnificent wrought iron balustrade, vaulted arches, marble fireplaces, parquet and tomette flooring are exceptional features of the château.

A long history

Château de Varenne dates from the 17th century but its year of construction is not known precisely. It was formally known as the Castle of Sauveterre and was renamed by the Varenne family at the beginning of the 20th century. This former family home has preserved all its authenticity and spirit of yesteryear. The charm of Provence operates here through tapestries, period furniture and artifacts subtly chosen to echo its incredible architecture. Surrounding the house is a quiet and peaceful garden guarded by a magnificent 400-hundred-year-old Lebanese Cedar tree. It is said to be a majestic protector of the house and village!

Paul and Emma, both Irish, moved with their three children to this idyllic setting a few years ago. They welcome you from May to October and make every effort to ensure that your stay is relaxed and enjoyable. Their wish is to allow you to experience the serenity and comfort of the Château and the pleasures of the surrounding region.
